Event starts at 5:00 pm, Education Central, Townsville Campus.
It's a 54-hour event over a weekend, starting with ideas and pitches on Friday evening, creating and validating throughout the weekend and it all wraps up on Sunday afternoon where you pitch to a panel of local startup figures! There's some exciting prizes, though the skills you learn and connections you'll make will be the real win. We've got a team of experts to mentor you across the Startup Weekend in all aspects of your fledgling ideas - from IT to business to design and more; you might even score some investment to keep going!
Sounds awesome, but what if I don’t have an idea?
Don't worry -- it’s not just about the idea, it’s about the team you form! You'll be inspired by dozens of passionate pitches from others on Friday night, so you can join the team with the idea that you love most. Share your expertise and experience in any area to work on the idea and make it reality! If you do have an idea, remember you'll have just 60 seconds to pitch it to others.
What sort of skills do I need?
Anything goes, just bring yourself and your passion. Whether you're an IT developer, designer, student, businessperson, creative thinker, all-rounder, or anything in between, this is the opportunity you've been waiting for.
I've got a business/project already. Can I pitch that?
Note that only seed-stage ideas (no concrete work done) are able to be pitched and worked on at Startup Weekend events. This ensures everyone has the best and fairest experience. If you're unsure, get in touch before the weekend and we'll go through it with you. For more info, see the FAQ.
