Don’t miss out! Develop workplace skills, solve real problems for employers and network with fellow budding professionals from other universities!
The Queensland Government has developed a Launch U Trade Accelerator program (LTA), which is a virtual program enabling students to gain practical international consulting experience with Queensland-based exporters and trade professionals. You will help conduct international market research and provide recommendations to the organisation on growth opportunities.
You will develop skills, such as client consultation, taking a business briefing, stakeholder management and liaising, project management, creativity and initiative, business research and report writing, cross-cultural communication, presenting professionally, teamwork, emergent leadership and more.
Participation is free, and you will work online in multidisciplinary project teams with 5-6 students from other Queensland universities and discipline areas, who have been matched to specific projects based on their backgrounds. You don’t need to have any experience with research projects or marketing to participate – just a ‘can do’ attitude, initiative and a desire to work collaboratively and help solve a real-world problem while gaining employability skills and practical experience.
It is a small commitment (25 hours total) and the projects have been scheduled to run before SP1, 2021 to minimise any overlap with your studies. There are two project rounds of two weeks in duration and you can apply for either one (not both). The dates are:
Monday 23 November until Friday 4 December 2020 or
Monday 8 February until Friday 19 February 2021.
The programs include a compulsory, comprehensive orientation where you will be prepared for the project, and a client brief meeting where you will learn about your client’s needs. There is lots of support and coaching available, and no prior experience is necessary, so this is a not-to-be-missed entry-level opportunity to work with employers.
The program was originally designed for international students, but domestic students are also welcome to apply. It is open to all study levels (undergraduate and postgraduate) and study locations within Australia, and you won’t need to leave your lounge room to participate in this virtual, COVID-safe project!
Expressions of interest for the November round are now closed, keep an eye on the adverts for the upcoming editions mid year.
