About the Australian Government 2023 Digital Cadetship Program
The Australian Government 2023 Digital Cadetship Program aims to attract digital talent to work in the Australian Government by supporting their studies and giving them practical skills. We provide a rare opportunity for participants to experience a wide range of digital roles and disciplines, and help them decide on their digital career path.
Cadets have developed their careers in as diverse disciplines as cyber security, programming, interactive media, big data and analytics, and web development. The full list can be found on the Digital Profession website.
Who can apply?
The Digital Cadetship Program 2023 is for Australian citizens studying an undergraduate or postgraduate degree in a digital or technology-related field.
For students who have already applied for this program when it opened on 9 May 2022, you don’t need to reapply.
What you get out of the program
In this supported development program, you'll get:
- An opportunity to secure a rewarding digital career in the APS
- industry experience and a broader understanding of the digital work environment while you finish studying
- competitive salary for flexible part-time hours around your class timetable
- reimbursement for your uni fees if you pass (up to $800 per subject)
- likely credit towards your degree
- permanent employment when you finish your degree
- to network with other participants and develop relationships that will support you throughout your career
- mentoring and support from a dedicated career liaison and your supervisor.
You'll work a minimum of 2 days per week around your university classes while you complete your degree.
About the Digital Profession
The Digital Profession aims to lift the digital capability of the APS to transform government services and build a government fit for the digital age. It will improve the digital expertise of individuals and organisations to build a digital-ready workforce.
